How A Small Digital Advertising Agency Beats The Big Agencies

Peter · June 17, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Kent Lewis And His Portland Anvil Digital Agency Beats The Big Agencies.

Listen to how an agency owner drives business, delivers strong digital marketing opinions, and discusses how important community work is.

Kent Lewis is the founder and President of Portland’s Anvil Media, a small digital advertising agency. “Small” is in many ways a bad definer since Anvil drives large client business better than the mega agencies. Anvil is known for its expertise in delivering analytics, search engine, and social media marketing services.

Anvil and Kent have been recognized across the universe having won recognition including Oregon Business Magazine: 100 Best Places to Work: Portland Business Journal’s Fastest-Growing Private 100 Companies and Clutch’s Top Pay-per-Click and SEO Agency in America. Kent was also named one of Portland’s 40 under 40.

Kent is the founder of pdxMindshare and SEMpdx and its Engage Marketing Conference event. His give-back genes rule.

A Deep Dive Into The Birth Of Podcasting With Rob Walch Of Libsyn

Peter · June 15, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Part Two: Rob Walch of Libsyn and Podcast411 – The Lowdown And A Dive Into The Birth Of Podcasting In This 2006 Interview.

You know this, right? The word Podcast comes from the combination of iPod and broadcast. Do you know that Apple made podcasting what it is today? You also know that the beauty of podcasting is the instant delivery to your device via an RSS feed.? But, do you really know all of the early history? This episode of Advertising Stories will bring you up to speed on the birth of podcasting.

By mid-2006 Rob Walch had already recorded 149 episodes on his popular podcast411 show. He also knew more about podcasting than anyone in the industry, still is, and he is brutally articulate in this 2006 interview.

One interesting point rob makes is that today’s politicians should use podcasting to get their message out. Podcasting is free; it is not controlled by the FCC; it can be any length and is very personal. It is 2020… where are the political podcasts? No, not the ranting shows. The shows from the candidates themselves.

This entertaining and informative conversation was first recorded in 2006 on my advertising agency’s podcast series, The 360 View. I had just started a marketing podcast, a bit early, but knew that I needed Rob’s perspective on this burgeoning communication platform. He was right then and continues to be an industry visionary.

Rob has been a leader in the world of podcasting since 2004. No one knew more about where podcasting was and IS now going than Rob. Rob’s podCast411 is where it all started and is worth a visit. If you are a broadcaster, publisher, or listener, Rob’s history and insights will help you understand why podcasting is booming.

Make sure you meet Rob on LinkedIn — plus he is now VP of Podcaster Relations at Libsyn. There will soon be a follow-up episode. Stay tuned.
